Women’s Basketball Closes Out Season With PSAC West Loss at Nationally-Ranked Seton Hill

Bosch, BelleChildress, RileyBelle Bosch had game-highs of 20 points and eight rebounds, and Riley Childress added 17 points and five assists, but Seton Hill, ranked 18th in the D2CSC National Poll and 20th in the WBCA Coaches Poll, held off a second half Mountain Cat surge for a 78-61 PSAC Western Division victory, Wednesday evening in Greensburg.  Pitt-Johnstown closed out the 2024-25 season at 3-24 overall and 1-19 in conference-play.
 
Bosch ended the evening shooting 6-11 from the floor and 8-10 from the stripe, while Childress was 6-8 from the field, and 2-3 from behind the arc.  M'laya Ainsworth tallied eight points and five rebounds, and Lexi Margolis and Gianna Gallucci chipped-in seven and five points, respectively for the Mountain cats
 
Pitt-Johnstown came out and hit three of its first five shots, including a bucket from Bosch at 6:36, to give the Mountain Cats an early lead.  Seton Hill got hot and built a 21-12 advantage on two of Hailee Ford's nine first quarter points, before Gallucci knocked down a 3-pointer with :17 left to get Pitt-Johnstown back to within six at 21-15.
 
The Griffins grabbed the momentum to start the second quarter and used 3-pointers from Helene Cowan and Abby Mankins to push the lead out 35-19.  Margolis answered with a 3-pointer of her own to ignite a 13-5 Mountain Cat run over the next four minutes to make it an eight-point game, but a late basket from Cowan got the Seton Hill lead back into double digits at 42-32 at the half.
 
After Bosch's layup on Pitt-Johnstown's first possession on the third quarter, Childress followed with a 3-pointer to make it 44-37.  The Griffins quickly regained control and scored 13 unanswered points and extended the lead to 57-38 on a Mia Kalich layup at 5:50.  The Mountain Cats continued to battle and got a basket in the paint from Ainsworth and a free-throw from Childress to stay within striking distance at 61-47.
 
Bosch's free-throws with 5:45 to play got Pitt-Johnstown as close as eight at 65-57, but Seton Hill was able pull away for the victory.
 
Pitt-Johnstown shot 46.9% (23-49) from the field, 4-15 from 3-point range, and 11-18 from the line.  The Griffins shot 53,4% (31-58), including 7-19 from beyond the arc.  Seton Hill was 9-13 from the charity stripe.
 
Cowan's 17 points and Ford's 14 points paced four Griffins who scored in double figures and helped Seton Hill improve to 22-4 overall and 16-3 in the PSAC.
