Wrestlers Claim 26th Regional Crown With Three Champions and Five National Qualifiers

Head Coach Tyler Reinhart earned his first in his inaugural season and the Pitt-Johnstown wrestling program claimed its 26th overall NCAA Super Region I Championship with three champions and a pair of second-place finishers, Saturday afternoon at Fairmont State (WV) University.
 
Trevon Gray (125 lbs.), Chad Ozias (149 lbs.), and Dakoda Rodgers (197) all won individual titles, while Noah Gnibus (184 lbs.) and Isaiah Vance (285 lbs.) both placed second to lead the group of five Mountain Cat who earned spots in the 2025 NCAA National Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind. on March 14-15.
 
In addition to the national qualifiers, Tyson Cook (133 lbs.) and Cooper Warshel (157 lbs.) both finished fourth, and Mason Myers (141 lbs.), Macon Myers (1675 lbs.), and Tony Salopek (174 lbs.) all came away with fifth-place finishes.
 
The Mountain Cats, who put seven wrestlers into the semifinals and five into the finals, had all ten of their wrestlers place in the top-five, to win the regional title with 148.0 points, 6.5 points better than second-;place Gannon.  Kutztown (122.0 points), Millersville (79.0 points), and Frostburg State (77.0 points) rounded out the top-five in the 12-team field..
 
CHAMPIONS
125 lbs. – top-seeded Trevon Gray cruised into the semifinals with first period falls over American International's Daniel McLaughlin and Shippensburg's Noah Gilgore. Gray then pinned fifth-seeded Joshua Jaisonowicz (East Stroudsburg) to get to the finals where he got a takedown with four seconds remaining in overtime to claim his third regional title with a 4-1 win over No 2-seeded Logan Sallot.

149 lbs. – Second seeded Chad Ozias received a first round bye then pinned Seton Hill's Luke Potts at 2:13 to advance to the semifinals, where he got a takedown with under :10 left in the third period to knock off No. 3-seeded James Ryan (Kutztown) to reach the finals.  Ozias then won his first regional crown by medical forfeit when top-seeded Kenny Kiser (Gannon) was not able to wrestle.

197 lbs. – No. 1-seeded Dakoda Rodgers also reached the semifinals with a pair of first period falls.  Rodgers pinned East Stroudsburg's Landon Christie at 2:02 then won by fall at 1:19 over Wheeling's Chris Johnson in the quarterfinals, before advancing to the finals with an 18-3 technical fall at 6:09 over Millersville's fourth-seeded Bruce Vaughn.  Rodgers then earned his 99th career victory and his second straight regional title with a 9-2 win over second-seeded Wayne McIntyre (Kutztown).
 
SECOND-PLACE
184 lbs. – Second-seeded Noah Gnibus reached the semifinals with a 15-0 technical fall wins over East Stroudsburg's Augustus Warke and a 5-0 shut win over Frostburg State's Nick McCarthy.  Gnibus then earned an 11-7 win over third-seeded Austin Gibson, before falling in the finals by a 19-4 technical fall at 3:37 to No. 1-seeded Matt Weinberg (Kutztown).
 
285 lbs.Isaiah Vance, the top-seed at 285 lbs., had a first round by then pinned Felician's Justin Perry :27 into the opening period to get to the semifinals, where he defeated Bishop McCoy (Millersville), 7-2.  In the finals, second-seeded Dorian Crosby pinned Vance at 5:55.
 
FOURTH-PLACE
133 lbs. – Fourth-seeded Tyson Cook dealt Angelo DiPol (Wheeling) a 19-3 technical fall loss at 5:37 in the first round, but dropped a 9-0 major decision to Felician's fifth-seeded Brian Melamud in the quarterfinsls.  Cook bounced by a with a major decision win in the second round of the consolations and an 18-1 technical fall win at 5:23 over East Stroudsburg's Evan Thompson to advance to the consolation semifinals.  A 10-5 win over No. 3-seeded Javien DeLeon (Kutztown) put him in the third-place match against top-seeded Jeremiah Echevarria (Gannon).  Echevarria got a takedown late in the third period to pick up an 8-6 win and give Cook a fourth-place finish as a true freshman.
 
157 lbs. – A bye in the first round and a 4-1 win over Gavin Reynolds (East Stroudsburg) put No. 1-seeded Cooper Warshel in the semifinals, where American International's Thomas Nichols won a 7-3 decision, dropping him to the consolation semifinals.  Warshel won a 19-3 technical fall at 6:21 over John D'amico (Frostburg State to reach the third-place match, but placed fourth after suffering a 5-3 loss to No. 3-seeded Ethan Richtner (Gannon)
 
FIFTH-PLACE
141 lbs. – After an opening round bye, third-seeded Mason Myers won a 9-3 decision over Gage Heilbrun (Frostburg State) to reach the semifinals, but second-seeded Nicholas Cottone (Millersville) got a takedown late in the first overtime to earn an 8-5 win and send Myers to the consolation semifinals.  Myers then suffered a 10-4 loss to Kutztown's Joey Ortega and placed fifth by pinning Heilburn at 6:04.
 
165 lbs. – Following a 9-5 loss to No. 1-seeded Bailey Gimbor (Kutztown) to start the day, Macon Myers received a bye in the first round of the consolations, before earning a 17-2 technical fall win at 6:32 over Seton Hill's Collin Hearn.  Myers pinned Fairmont State's Elijah Wellings-Osha at 2:57 in the consolation quarterfinals, but lost a 4-3 decision to fourth-seeded in Nick Coreno (Gannon) to send him tom the fifth-place match.  A medical forfeit by #6-seeded Mason Buckler gave Myers the fifth-place finish.
 
174 lbs. – No. 6-seeded Tony Salopek defeated Shippensburg's Trey Shoemaker, 7-2 in the first round then lost a 4-2 decision to third-seeded Owen Butler (Frostburg State) in the quarterfinals.  Salopek bounced back win a technical fall win over Hunter Bittinger (Wheeling) in the second round of the consolations and an 8-0 major decision win in the consolation quarterfinals, before falling 4-1 to Millersville's Andrew Vogelbacher in consolation semis.  In the fifth-place match, Salopek won a 3-1 decision over Seton Hill's Kane Kettering.
