Franklin Pierce (NH) used a five-run second inning to build an early lead on its way to an 8-0 victory over Pitt-Johnstown, Tuesday afternoon at the Spring Games in Clermont. Fla.  The Mountain Cats slipped to 1-5 on the season.
 
Charlit Hartenstein's RBI double in the bottom of the first gave the Ravens a lead, before Franklin Pierce added five more in the second.  Anna Erickson scored on a passed ball ahead of an RBI ground out from Andie Anders, and run producing singles from Lita Vorserth, Zoey Galindo, and Hartenstein.
 
The Ravens made it 7-0 in the fourth on Bella Williams' sacrifice fly, and Taylor Ellis' base hit scored Haley Bigwood from third to set the final at 8-0.
 
Pitt-Johnstown just couldn't get the bats going and were held to one hit, Audrey Paterson's lead-off single in the top of the second.  Jenna Tallman, Mia Smith, and Isabella DePalma also reached base for Pitt-Johnstown.
 
Smith slipped to 1-2 after allowing eight runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings.  Smith struck out two and walked five.
 
Franklin Pierce's Georgia Clouth tossed a complete-game, one-hit shutout to improve to 2-3.  Clouth fanned seven and walked three.
 
Hartenstein went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI, and Ellis added a pair of hits and an RBI for the Ravens, who improved to 4-3.
 
Following a day off on Wednesday, the Mountain Cats will take on Findlay (OH) and West Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday, then close out the Spring Games against Point Park and Lynn (FL) on Friday.
