Findlay opened up a four-run lead in the third inning, before adding five more in the fifth in a 10-1 victory over Pitt-Johnstown, Thursday morning at the Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
Â
Annika Bredyl's RBI ground out and Joslynne Frazier's run scoring single up the middle gave Findlay a pair of unearned runs in the top of the first off Mountain Cat starter
Mahlon Yonkin.
Â
Pitt-Johnstown quickly got one of those runs back in its half of the first, after
Hannah Gnibus doubled with one out and came around to score on
Julia Mooney's base hit down the right field line.
Â
The Oilers made it 3-1 in the second on Meghan Heinsman's RBI single, before two more unearned runs in the third increased it to 5-1.
Â
Findlay was able to break it open with five runs in the top of the fifth. Heinsman singled home two off Mountain Cat reliever
Mia Smith, and Bredyl followed two batters later with a three-run home run to center to push it out to 10-1.
Â

Mooney had an RBI single, Gnibus doubled, and
Krista Brunson collected a base hit for Pitt-Johnstown, now 1-6.
Â
Yonkin slipped to 0-3 after surrendering five runs, but just one earned, on five hits over the first three innings. Yonkin also struck out two and walked one. Smith pitched the final two innings and gave up five runs on five hits.
Â
Bredyl went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI, and Heinsman had two his and drove in three for the Oilers, now 8-1 on the year.
