

After a 9-0 loss in Monday's PSAC West doubleheader opener in Slippery Rock, Pitt-Johnstown returned the favor with a 10-0, five-inning win in game two behind three RBI apiece from
Julia Mooney and
Jessica Pugh, and
Mahlon Yonkin's complete-game, six-hit shutout. The Mountain Cats, winners of three of their last four games, are now 9-27 overall and 6-16 in conference-play.
In game one, Alyssa Sheely singled and moved to third on Arielle Brown's double to right-center to start the Slippery Rock third inning. Sheely scored on a passed ball, and Shaylyn Shall followed with an RBI single to put The Rock on top 2-0.
Slippery Rock added four more in the fourth on Brown's two-run double off the wall in left and Shall's two-run opposite field homer down the left field line.
The Rock closed out the 9-0 win with three runs in the bottom of the sixth on Shall's RBI single and Alexsa Hurd's two-run double.

Hurd got the job done in the circle Slippery Rock, holding Pitt-Johnstown scoreless on two hits, a
Sara Solberg single through the left side in the fifth and
Isabella DePalma's infield hit in the sixth. Hurt also struck out 11 and walked two.
Mia Smith took the loos for the Mountain Cats after giving up nine runs (8 earned) on 13 hits, while striking out four and no allowing a walk.
In the nightcap, Pitt-Johnstown took advantage of a Slippery Rock error to fill the bases in the top of the first and Pugh delivered a three-run double that plated
Hannah Gnibus,
Meghan McDonough, and Mooney to give the Mountain Cats an early lead.
The Mountain Cats kept the offense going. DePalma singled to lead off the Pitt-Johnstown third and scored on
Audrey Paterson's double to right-center, and Mooney's single to right field in the fourth allowed
Krista Brunson to score from second to extend it to 5-0.
In the top of the fifth, Pitt-Johnstown tacked on five more runs.
Gianna Surra scored on a Slippery Rock throwing error, and Paterson scored on a wild pitch, before Brunson's base hit chased home Solberg. Mooney followed three batters later with double to right that sent Brunson and McDonough home to break it open and extend the lead to 10-0.
Yonkin went out and kept The Rock off the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth to record the five-inning, shutout victory. Yonkin scattered six hits, fanned three and walked one.
Pitt-Johnstown collected 12 hits in game two. Mooney went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, while Pugh added a three-run double for the Mountain Cats. Pitt-Johnstown also got two this, including a double and an RBI from Paterson, two this, two runs, and an RBI from Brunson, and a pair of hits and two runs from McDonough in the lopsided win.
With the split, Slippery Rock is now 21-18 overall and 15-6 in the PSAC West.
The Mountain Cats will host a PSAC West doubleheader against Seton Hill on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Softball Field, before visiting Indiana (PA) for a pair of conference games on Friday.
