Johnstown, Pa.

Mooney, JuliaMcDonough, MeghanPitt-Johnstown doubled up Seton Hill for a 10-5 victory in game one before suffering a 17-4 defeat in the second game to split a PSAC West doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon.

The Mountain Cats wrapped the day at 10-28 overall (7-17 PSAC) with just four regular-season games remaining.

Game One—Pitt-Johnstown 10, Seton Hill 5

Pitt-Johnstown trailed 2-0 before it pushed across a run in the third to cut the deficit in half. Sophomore center fielder Meghan McDonough singled and came around to score on Julia Mooney's RBI double.

Momentum completely flipped in the fifth when the Mountain Cats went on top with a four-spot. Senior Hannah Gnibus singled with one out, McDonough reached on a fielder's choice and Mooney walked to load the bases.

Isabella DePalma followed and slapped a two-run single to give the Mountain Cats a 3-2 lead that never faded away. Gianna Surra then reached on a fielding error to score pinch-runner Emma DiStefano before Mia Smith reached on a fielder's choice that allowed DePalma to cross home thanks to an error.

The Griffins made it a one-run game with two runs in the sixth, but the Mountain Cats responded with five runs on five hits in the sixth to put it away.

Audrey Paterson cracked a single to lead off the inning before coming all the way around thanks to a single by Krista Brunson and an error.

Brunson moved all the way to third with one out on a single from Gnibus and a wild pitch before scoring when Mooney reached on an error. DePalma and Surra belted back-to-back RBI singles before DePalma eventually scored on a wild pitch with two outs to make it 10-4.

Smith earned the complete-game win after keeping the Mountain Cats within striking distance. She scattered 10 hits with five strikeouts and two walks while throwing 128 pitches.

Game Two—Seton Hill 17, Pitt-Johnstown 4 (5 innings)

The Mountain Cats faced a 4-0 deficit after one inning and found itself in an insurmountable 16-0 hole before getting on the board in the second.

Sara Solberg reached on a fielder's choice and touched home on Brunson's RBI double. Gnibus brought in Brunson with a single that made it 16-2. Mooney hit a solo shot in the third and recorded an RBI single in the fourth that scored McDonough, who had a bunt single earlier in the frame.

Seton Hill collected 14 hits in a game that was shortened to five innings.

Mahlon Yonkin suffered the loss in the circle for the Mountain Cats after throwing three innings. Addison Hilligsberg tossed 2/3 of an inning in relief before Smith threw the final 1 1/3 innings.
