The Pitt-Johnstown women's volleyball team found itself on the wrong end of a match for the first time this season, falling to Shippensburg in four sets, 25-20, 17-25, 20-25, 21-25, during the Frostburg State University Tournament on Saturday.
Despite the setback, Ellie Cirino Zuro recorded a career-high 22 kills and added six digs. Caroline Knight chipped in seven kills and two aces, while Mallory Pinske provided six kills and two aces.
The Mountain Cats led 21-20 in the first set before ripping off the final four points, which included a kill apiece from Zuro and Knight, to win it.
Abby Berry dished out a match-high 35 assists. Avery Koontz supplied a match-high 20 digs and added four assists.
Pitt-Johnstown will compete in the IUP Tournament next weekend, beginning with a match against Charleston on Friday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m.
