

Edinboro climbed out to a 3-0 second half lead and went on to hold off, Pitt-Johnstown, 3-1, in a PSAC Western Division matchup, Saturday afternoon in Edinboro. The Mountain Cats, now 0-1-3 overall and 0-1-1 in conference-play, got a goal from
Rylee Fry.
In an evenly-played opening half that saw both teams come away with five shots, Edinboro was able to scratch out a 1-0 halftime advantage.
After
Julia Mayernick's shot hit the crossbar and
Lydia Roman's follow was saved by Fighting Scots' goalkeeper Brianna Garey 15 minutes into the match, Jada Cole's penalty kick goal 11 minutes later put Edinboro on top, 1-0.
Cole then finished an assist from Grace Madison 10 minutes into the second half, and Emily Vogel scored off of an assist from Cole in the 72
nd minute to increase the Fighting Scots' lead to 3-0.
The Mountain Cats cut it to 3-1 with 12 minutes to play when Fry's found the back of the net from Roman's free-kick, but that was as close as Pitt-Johnstown could get.
Emma Morin suffered the loss in net for Pitt-Johnstown after seeing 14 shots, making seven saves, and allowing all three goals, while Garey picked up the win for Edinboro. Garey faced nine Mountain Cat shots, made five saves, and allowed one goal.
The Fighting Scots improved to 3-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the PSAC West.
Pitt-Johnston visits Indiana (PA) for a PSAC West match on Wednesday, then returns home to host a conference match against nationally ranked Gannon on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
