The Mountain Cats struggled to get the offense going and Indiana (PA) built a 4-0 halftime lead on its way to a 6-0 PSAC Western Division victory over Pitt-Johnstown, Wednesday afternoon in Indiana. The Mountain Cats slipped to 0-2-3 overall and 0-2-1 in conference-play.
IUP came out strong and scored four goals on of its eight first half shots. Elle Smith opened the scoring for IUP in the 22
nd minute, and Taylor Serrano made it 2-0 10 minutes later off of an assist from Abby Caruso.
The Crimson Hawks went on to tack on goals from Caruso and Emily Latter late in the opening 45 minutes to build a 4-0 halftime advantage.
IUP was able to add two more goals in the second half to set the final at 6-0.
Pitt-Johnstown's
Emma Morin took the loss in goal after allowing five goals on nine shots and making a pair of saves in the first 78 minutes.
Jordyn Snyder played the final 11 minutes, saw three shots, allowed one goal, and made one save in her collegiate debut.
Sarah Gatz and Kiley Hassinger each played one half in goal for the Crimson Hawks, now 5-0-1 overall 3-0-0 in the PSAC West.
Pitt-Johnston returns home to host a PSAC West matches against seventh-ranked Gannon on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Seton Hill on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
