The Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team began its 2025 campaign with a rain-soaked 1-1 draw against Tiffin on Thursday afternoon at Richland High School.
The Mountain Cats went down 1-0 less than four minutes in when Tiffin's Tia Nagle found the back of the net off an assist from Suzy Hayes.
However, Pitt-Johnstown responded in the 18th minute, when freshman Maddie Barrick notched her first career goal to tie the match at 1-all. Junior Sarah Rader was credited with the assist. Barrick and sophomore midfielder Delaney McGrath each finished with two shots on goal to lead the way for the Mountain Cats.
The score remained tied headed into halftime, and neither team created many opportunities throughout the second half. Tiffin recorded seven shots over the final 45 minutes, while Pitt-Johnstown tallied three.
Redshirt junior Parker Grimm spent all 90 minutes in goal and racked up a game-high seven saves. Tiffin's Sam McPhee had six saves.Â
