

Pitt-Johnstown took advantage of three different goal scorers and used a pair of second half tallies to break a halftime tie and deal Goldey-Beacom (DE) a 3-1 non-conference loss to open the 2025 season at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.

Marshall Richter set up a
Noah Pawling goal 21 minutes into the match to give the Mountain Cats an early lead, but Aaron Nelson answered for the Lightning 16 minutes later to knot it at one going into the halftime break.

However, it was all Pitt-Johnstown in the second half.Â
Pau Cano finished Richter's second assist of the afternoon in the 74
th minute to give the lead back to the Mountain Cats, before
Jaeger James' penalty kick goal with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation set the final at 3-1.

Jacob Tichnell face 10 shots from Goldey-Beacom, made one save, and surrendered just one goal to pick up the win in net for the Mountain Cats.

The Lightning's Jamel Yasin took the loss after seeing 13 shots from Pitt-Johnstown and allowing all three goals. Yasin also made four saves.

With the loss, Goldey-Beacom slipped to 0-3-0 to begin the season.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to Washington Adventist (MD) on Sept 19 to begin a stretch of three consecutive road matches, before returning home to host a non-conference match against Central Penn on Sept. 27 at noon at the UPJ Soccer Field.
