Madelyn Pfaff, Ava Kitner and Sarah Henry each scored in the second half to fuel a stretch of three unanswered goals from Pitt-Johnstown, but Edinboro answered with two late goals to escape with a 4-3 PSAC West victory over the Mountain Cats on Friday at Sox Harrison Stadium in Edinboro.
The second half alone produced six goals, and for a stretch midway through the period, it was all Pitt-Johnstown. Trailing 1-0 at the break and 2-0 early in the second half, the Mountain Cats rattled off three ustraight goals in a 13-minute span to seize their first lead of the match.
Pfaff got it started in the 54th minute, redirecting a loose ball into the net to cut the deficit in half. Kitner tied it at 2-2 in the 65th minute off an assist from Henry, and Henry completed the flurry just over two minutes later, scoring off a feed from Kristen Horgan to put Pitt-Johnstown ahead, 3-2, in the 68th minute.
Edinboro regrouped and struck twice in the final 13 minutes to reclaim the lead for good. Hailey Marchlewski knotted the score at 3-3 in the 78th minute, and Paige Miller — who finished with a pair of goals — scored the eventual game-winner in the 82nd minute off an assist from Jada Cole.
