Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Suffers Tight, 1-0, Non-conference Loss to Lackawanna

Johnstown, PA

A second-half surge wasn't enough to find an equalizer, as Pitt-Johnstown dropped a 1-0, non-conference decision to Lackawanna College on Saturday afternoon at Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, despite outshooting the Falcons 8-4 after halftime.

The Mountain Cats, now 1-7-1 overall, got a strong two-man effort between the pipes, as Sebastian Roman Rivera made three saves in the first half, before George Pasko came on and turned away four more in the second, combining for seven saves on the afternoon as the duo kept the Mountain Cats within reach throughout.

Lackawanna (1-7-2) got the game's only goal in the 17th minute, when Miguel Pereira buried his second of the season off an assist from Malik Salawu to make it 1-0.

Pitt-Johnstown settled in from there, controlling the ball and finishing with a 10 total shots.

Jimmy Quinn led the Mountain Cats with two shots, including one on goal that forced a save from Lackawanna goalkeeper Kevin Nievas late in the second half. Sebastian Jones added three shot attempts off the bench, while Jon-Luc Renaud, Jordan Taylor, Bryce Potter, Stanley Zdziebko and Ryan Kyei Boahen each had a shot as the Mountain Cats pressed for the equalizer.

Pitt-Johnstown continues PSAC West play on Wednesday with a trip to Lock Haven, before returning home next Saturday to host Slippery Rock at noon for Senior Day at Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
