Jessica Pugh,
Paige Boehm, and
Mahlon Yonkin all homered, and Yonkin tossed a two-hitter to lead Pitt-Johnstown to a lopsided, 10-1, victory over Davis & Elkins (WV) in the Mountain Cats' second of three games at the Triangle Classic, Saturday afternoon in Raleigh.
Â
Pitt-Johnstown, 2-0 on the year, got things going in the bottom first inning. After a
Meghan McDonough single and a walk to
Kylie Mettrick, Pugh belted her first homer of the season to put the Mountain Cats on top 3-0.
Â
The Senators cut it to 3-1 in the top of the second with an unearned run, but the Mountain Cats got that run back when Yonkin doubled to lead off the bottom of the fourth.Â
Sara Solberg entered as a pinch runner and scored when
Annabelle Helt's ball was misplayed by Davis & Elkins.
Â
Pitt-Johnstown continued to pour it on with three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth. Pugh singled in the fifth and scored on Boehm's first career home run, before Yonkin connected for a solo shot to make it 7-1.
Â

Back-to-back doubles from McDonough and
Mylee Gdula to start the sixth inning pushed it out to 8-1.Â
Avery Smiach followed with a base hit that moved Gdula to third, and Boehm reached on a Senators' throwing error allowing Gdula to come across to set the final at 9-1.
Â
Yonkin got the win and improved to 1-0 after holding Davis & Elkins to one run on just two hits, while striking out four.
