

The Mountain Cats struggled to hold onto leads against Gannon, dropping two PSAC West contents, Sunday afternoon in Erie. The Golden Knights took game one with a final score of 8-4 and then won the nightcap 5-3.

Pitt-Johnstown fell to 14-27 (5-14 PSAC) and gets a chance to rebound Tuesday against Shippensburg before a four-game conference series against Lock Haven on Friday and Saturday.

Game 1: Gannon 8, Pitt-Johnstown 4

The Mountain Cats jumped in front early, getting
Lucas Muffie to third base on a sacrifice bunt and then scoring on a balk.

Gannon quickly responded and took the lead, scoring a run on a fielding error and then a run scoring single.

Pitt-Johnstown did battle back as
Jacob Cramer tied the game with a double to left-center, scoring
Calvin Iseminger.

The Golden Knights stormed right back in front with a two-run double.

In the top of the fifth, the Mountain Cats tied the game with a two-run homer from
Karson Reffner, but a solo home run gave Gannon the lead right back.

From there, the Golden Knights took control of the game, scoring three more runs in the sixth inning. From there they won 8-4.

Aiden Coleman suffered the loss on the mound, surrendering five runs (four earned) through five innings.
Baron Dionis pitched an inning in relief.

Game 2: Gannon 5, Pitt-Johnstown 3

Similar to game one, the Mountain Cats took an early lead in the second inning. This time it was from a three-run home run from
Aaron Smearman, playing Zac Legars and
Calvin Iseminger.

Gannon followed with a run-scoring single and then took the lead in the third off a sacrifice fly-out and two-run double.Â

The Golden Knights added an insurance run in the fifth on a solo home run to left.

Jared Dowey took the loss on the mound, allowing four runs through three and one-third.
Roman Donis tossed two innings and
Mason Pfeil got the final two outs.

Pitt-Johnstown will return home Tuesday with a midweek contest against Shippensburg at 2 p.m.
