

Pitt-Johnstown rode a pair of hits and two RBI each from
Karson Reffner and
Lucas Muffie for a 12-9 victory over Lock Haven in game two to gain a PSAC West baseball split, The Bald Eagles took game one with a final score of 14-9.
The Mountain Cats are now 16-28 (6-16 PSAC) with two more against Lock Haven tomorrow at Point Stadium.
Game 1: Lock Haven 14, Pitt-Johnstown 9
After a scoreless first, the Bald Eagles' offense exploded for seven runs, headlined by two run-scoring doubles.
Lucas Muffie got the Mountain Cats on the board with a single to center field, scoring
Jared Dowey.
Lock Haven got that run right back in the bottom half of the third, scoring on an error.
Then in the fourth, Pitt-Johnstown started to rally back.
Aaron Smearman drove in two runs on an error and then Dowey collected an RBI single. Reffner drove in a run on a groundout and then Muffie brought in a run on an error.
The Mountain Cats kept hitting as
Tyler Danko crushed a run-scoring triple to right-center.
Aaron Smearman drove in Danko to tie the game at 8-8.
Lock Haven stormed right back in front with three runs in the fifth.
Pitt-Johnstown didn't give up as
Calvin Iseminger belted a solo home run in the sixth.
Right after, the Bald Eagles put the game away, scoring three more runs finalizing the score 14-9.
Jimmy Kunst suffered the loss out of the bullpen, tossing three innings.
Ben Tomb started, but didn't make it out of the second.
Baron Dionis tossed one and one-third out of the bullpen and Lucas Patterson came in for just one batter.
Iseminger led the offense with two hits, including his solo home run.
Game 2: Pitt-Johnstown 12, Lock Haven 9
The Mountain Cats wasted no time in the nightcap, scoring four in the first.
Karson Reffner drove in a run on a fielder's choice and
Calvin Iseminger followed with an RBI double. Iseminger scored on a wild pitch and then a
Tyler Danko single made it 4-0.
Both pitchers tossed a few scoreless frames until Lock Haven scored two in the bottom of the third on a fielder's choice.
Pitt-Johnstown's offense ignited again in the fifth, started by an RBI double from
Tate Minich. Reffner drove him in on a double and then
Lucas Muffie brought in Reffner on a single.
Aaron Smearman kept the rally alive by driving in two more runs on a single.
The Bald Eagles stayed hot offensively with four more runs to follow, making it a 9-6 ballgame.
Reffner and Muffie replicated the fifth inning in the sixth, with a run-scoring double and an RBI single.
Then in the seventh,
Alex Ebeling drove in a run on a single up the middle.
Lock Haven didn't go down quietly as they fought in the seventh. Their offense scored another three runs, but
Vinny Chirdon came in and earned the save.
Brian Pirone earned the win, tossing four and one-third. Mason Pfiel delivered two and one-third strong innings before Chirdon got the final out.
Reffner and Muffie headlined the offense, both with two hits and two RBIs.
Pitt-Johnstown returns home tomorrow with a doubleheader against Lock Haven, starting at 1 p.m.
