Mountain Cats Come Away With Another Split With Lock Haven

Johnstown, PA

Dowey, JaredJared Dowey led the Mountain Cats to an 8-3 victory in the nightcap, tossing a complete game, to get Pitt-Johnstown its second split with Lock Haven in as many days. The Bald Eagles managed to shut down Pitt-Johnstown's offense in the first game, winning 5-1.

The Mountain Cats moved to 17-29 (7-17 PSAC) and will start their last series of the season against Indiana next Thursday.

Game 1: Lock Haven 5, Pitt-Johnstown 1

Lock Haven jumped out front early with a solo home run in the second inning.

Then in the third, the Bald Eagles scored another three runs off of a wild pitch and two, run-scoring singles. They managed to score another run in the fourth, giving them a 5-0 lead.

Tyler Danko broke the scoreless stretch in the bottom half of the fourth with a solo home run, but that was all the runs the Mountain Cats were able to get across.

Aiden Coleman took the loss after two and one-third frames, allowing four. Roman Donis took the bulk out of the bullpen, tossing four and one-third innings, allowing one unearned run and striking out four. Riley Roskopf also pitched and got one out.

Tate Minich led the offense with two hits, including a double.

Game 2: Pitt-Johnstown 8, Lock Haven 3

Like game one, the Bald Eagles jumped into an early lead with a run in the first inning.

Pitt-Johnstown immediately responded after Lucas Muffie tied the game with a run-scoring single.

In the third inning, Muffie crushed a two-run homer to left center, giving the Mountain Cats a 3-1 lead.

Then in the fourth, Zac Legars belted a long home run over the screen in left.

The Mountain Cats extended their lead in the six, when Alex Ebeling dropped a bunt up the third base line, scoring Legars and a wild throw brought in Brody Roberts. Karson Reffner followed the bunt with a two-run homer to right field.

Lock Haven added two more runs in the seventh, but the Mountain Cat offense gave Jared Dowey enough run support to finish the complete game. Dowey allowed three runs (two earned) off eight hits and struck out two.

Muffie led the offense with two hits, three RBIs, and a home run.

Pitt-Johnstown returns home next Thursday against Indiana for a four game series.
