Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper George Pasko turned in one of the most active afternoons of his young career, making 11 saves, but D'Youville used a pair of second half goals to secure a 2-0 victory over the Mountain Cats, Saturday afternoon in Buffalo, NY.
The loss drops Pitt-Johnstown to 1-3-0 on the season.
Pitt-Johnstown finished the match with three shots, one on goal, to D'Youville's 23 shots (13 on goal). Despite the disparity in chances, the Mountain Cats stayed within a goal deep into the second half thanks to Pasko's heroics between the pipes.
D'Youville finally broke through in the 50th minute when Ewan Brodie buried a feed from Dylan Danch to make it 1-0. The Saints put the result away late, as Ethan Robinson converted an assist from Finn Savage in the 84th minute for the 2-0 final margin.
Jordan Taylor, Tristan Ralph and Gabriel Diaz each tested D'Youville goalkeeper Matthew Solorio, combining for all three of the Mountain Cats' shots.
Pasko's 11-save performance, spread evenly across a first half in which D'Youville poured on 14 shots, was the story of the match for the Mountain Cats. He turned away bids from six different Saints attackers before finally being beaten in the second half.
Pitt-Johnstown returns to the road Wednesday, Sept. 16, for a 4 p.m. match at Central Penn College in Enola, Pa., before opening PSAC play Wednesday, Sept. 23, at home against California (Pa.) at 4 p.m.
