09/09/2006

Head Coach Eric Kinsey's Mountain Cat soccer team was unable to rebound after surrendering a pair of goals in the first five minutes of the match and fell, 5-1, Saturday afternoon at California University (PA). Pitt Johnstown slipped to 1-2-0 on the season.
After the two quick goals to start the match, the Vulcans added two more goals to take a 4-0 halftime lead. California made it 5-0 in the second half, before Pitt Johnstown junior forward Chris Hawkins (Scottdale, Pa.) found the back of the net off of a pass from senior midfielder John Kotchey (Gibsonia, Pa.) in the 88th minute to set the final score at 5-1 in favor of the Vulcans.
Mountain Cat freshman goal keeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) made eight saves, but suffered the loss and dropped to 1-2-0.
California also outshot the Mountain Cats, 18-14, for the match.
The Mountain Cats continue a four-match road trip at Gallaudet (D.C.) University on Friday and Columbia Union (MD) College on Saturday. Pitt Johnstown will play its next home match on Thursday, September 21 at 4:30 p.m. against Mount Aloysius College.
