Taslov's Goal Leads Mountain Cats Over Concord

09/17/2011

Steve Taslov's (Coraopolis, Pa.) goal 15 minutes into the match proved to be the game-winner in Pitt-Johnstown's 1-0 WVIAC victory at Concord (WV) University, Saturday afternoon. Mike Cuccaro (Pittsburgh, Pa.) earned his third shutout of the season in goal for the Mountain Cats, now 4-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the WVIAC.
Taslov's header off of Marc Bucci's (Pittsburgh, Pa.) cross found the back of the net behind Concord goalkeeper Ryan Gustavel in the 15th minute of play put the Mountain Cats up 1-0.
That's all Cuccaro would need. Cuccaro faced 24 Concord shots, made 13 saves and recorded his third shutout in five matches this season. Gustavel only saw 13 Mountain Cat shots and made four saves, but gave-up the match's lone goal.
With the loss, Concord dropped to 0-5-0 overall and 0-3-0 in conference-play.
The Mountain Cats host WVIAC matches against Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Tuesday and West Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday. Both matches will kick-off at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
