Men's Soccer Rolls to 6-0 Win Over Waynesburg

The Mountain Cat soccer team broke open a 2-0 halftime lead with four second half goals en route to a 6-0 shutout victory over visiting Waynesburg College, Friday afternoon. Junior forward Jason Swope (Indiana, Pa.) tallied both first half goals to help Pitt Johnstown improve to 4-1-0 on the year.
Swope got the Mountain Cats on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal in the 26th minute, before adding his second goal of the match on a penalty kick just seconds before the the first half ended.
Head Coach Eric Kinsey's team put the game away in the second half with goals from Arik Misler (Johnstown, Pa.), Chris Hawkins (Scottdale, Pa.), Cory Winwood (Harwick, Pa.) and Kyle Kiralfy (Lancaster, Pa.), who headed a free kick past Waynesburg goalkeeper Ryan Hunsberger in the 85th minute to set the final score at 6-0. Along with his goal, Winwood also picked up an assist on Hawkins' goal in the 73rd minute. Alex Gatti (Indiana, Pa.), Nik Buchta (Mount Pleasant, Pa.) and Jim Martin (Washington, Pa.) also had assists for Pitt Johnstown.
The Mountain Cats outshot Waynesburg 27-10 and held a 13-6 advantage in shots on-goal.
Pitt Johnstown sophomore goalkeeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) earned a shared shutout with red-shirt freshman Michael LoPresti (Karns City, Pa.) to improve to 4-0-0 on the year. Neff made six saves in 79 minutes in goal.
With the loss, Waynesburg dropped to 1-4-0.
Pitt Johnstown travels to La Roche College for a non-conference match on Monday, before returning home to host California University (PA) for another non-conference match on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
