#8 Wrestlers Bounce Back With 25-9 Win at Lake Erie

Third-ranked Ryan Link (Cresson, Pa.) got a pin in the first minute of his 133-lb. bout to help the eighth-ranked Mountain Cat wrestlers bounce back from Friday loss with a solid 25-9 win at Lake Erie (OH) College on Saturday. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 8-3.
Three straight wins to start the match, including Link's pin at :57 over Ian Ross at 133 lbs. surrounded by decisions by Dave Fogle (Summerhill, Pa.) over Austin Gillihan at 125 lbs., and Tyler Chesney (Roaring Spring, Pa.) over Kevin Brunner at 141 lbs., gave the Mountain Cats a 12-0 lead.
Lake Erie's Zach Vargo defeated Nathan Link (Cresson, Pa.), 8-4, at 149 lbs. to get the Storm on the scoreboard, but Zach Lundgren (DuBois, Pa.) won a 13-3 major decision at 157 lbs. over Tyler Tesny to increase the Mountain Cat lead to 16-3 midway through the match.
The Storm picked-up their final two wins of the day at 165 and 174 lbs. to pull to within seven at 16-9, but Pitt-Johnstown closed out the match with three straight decision wins.
At 184 lbs., eighth-ranked Gary Lantz (Delta, Pa.) shutout Josh Linden, 7-0, before Jon Moore (Leechburg, Pa.) defeated Mike Samijlenko, 7-1, at 197 lbs., and Greg Grimes (Ebensburg, Pa.) won 8-3 over Robert Zappitelli at heavyweight to set the final at 25-9.
With the loss, Lake Erie slipped to 6-7.
The Mountain Cats host Gannon University on Wednesday, at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to Seton Hill University on February 7.
