Women's Soccer Suffers 6-0 Loss at Wheeling Jesuit

The Pitt Johnstown women's soccer team trailed 2-0 at halftime, before giving up four more second half goals, and suffered a 6-0 loss at WVIAC rival Wheeling Jesuit University, Saturday evening. Pitt Johnstown is now 4-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the WVIAC.
Wheeling Jesuit opened the scoring with a goal in the 15th minute and added another goal in the 42nd minute to take a 2-0 halftime lead. The Cardinals then got back-to-back goals from Lindsay Getz in the 66th and 74th minutes to increase the lead to 4-0, before setting the final score at 6-0 with goals in the 77th and 78th minutes.
Pitt Johnstown red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) made six saves and gave up four goals to take the loss and fall to 4-4-0. Junior Tracy Sims (Coraopolis, Pa.) surrendered the other two goals.
Sophomore Lindsay Plowman (Apollo, Pa.) led Pitt Johnstown with three shots and two shots on-goal.
The Cardinals, who outshot Pitt Johnstown 23-9 and held a 12-5 advantage in shots on-goal, improved to 8-2-0 overall and 6-0-0 in the WVIAC. Wheeling Jesuit's Lauren Lewicki combined with Ashley Hitz and Chelsey Trefnoff to earn the shutout.
Pitt Johnstown travels to Mercyhurst College on Wednesday, before retruning home to host Carlow University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and Columbia Union (MD) College on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. as part of the University's 80th Anniversary Celebration and the Inauguration of its fifth president, Dr. Jem Spectar.
