Barbera Named First-Team All-WVIAC Baseball; Three Others Also Honored by Conference

Pitt-Johnstown senior second baseman Nick Barbera (Harrisburg, Pa.) was named First-Team All-WVIAC when this year's teams were released on Thursday. In addition, catcher Kyle Morrow (McVeytown, Pa.) and designated hitter Zach Martin (Irwin, Pa.) were second-team selections, while pitcher Drew Shaulis (Somerset, Pa.) and outfielder Drew Westover (Flinton, Pa.) garnered Honorable Mention All-WVIAC honors. Barbera, a Second-Team All-WVIAC choice a year ago, leads the Mountain Cats in runs scored (31) and doubles (12), and is second on the team in batting average (.347), hits (51), RBI (33), and slugging percentage (,490).
Morrow, a freshman catcher, is Pitt-Johnstown's top-hitter at .368, while Martin, is hitting .322 with a team-high 35 RBI.
Shaulis and Westover were both named honorable mention all-conference. Shaulis is 6-5 with a 4.76 E.R.A. His 68 innings-pitched and 54 strikeouts both lead the Mountain Cats. Westover, a junior outfielder, is hitting .292 with eight homeruns, nine doubles, four triples, and 28 RBI.
Minnich was tabbed the WVIAC Hitter of the Year, and Mozingo earned Pitcher of the Year accolades. Seton Hill University's Mark Marizzaldi was tabbed the Coach of the Year and Sam Belcastro (Fairmont State (WV) University) garnered the conference's Heart and Hustle Award.
Minnich led the WVIAC with a .433 average on the season. Starting all 37 contests, he tallied 52 hits, drove in 38 and crossed home plate 42 times. Minnich powered out 14 round-trippers on the season while accounting for nine doubles. He drew 28 walks on the seaso.

Mozingo was a standout for the Bobcats in 2011. A solid all-around player, he was even more special on the mound. Mozingo posted a 7-1 mark on the year and had an ERA of just 2.74. He tossed five complete games, including two shutouts. Mozingo worked 62.1 innings on the year and gave up just 19 earned runs. He struck out 68 and walked just 12 while holding batters to a .219 average.
Marizzaldi led SHU to a 26-3 mark in conference action with a power rating of 212.76. He has guided the squad to a 33-10 overall record. The Griffins are currently third in the region. To open the 2011 WVIAC campaign, SHU won its first 17 contests.
