John Fees Named WVIAC Co-Pitcher of Week

For the fifth time this season, a Pitt-Johnstown pitcher has garnered WVIAC Pitcher of the Week honors. This time, red-shirt freshman right-hander John Fees (Carrolltown, Pa.) shared the season's final honor with the University of Charleston's (WV) Tim Ponn after tossing a complete-game in Thursday's 5-1 win at Davis & Elkins (WV) College. Fees helped Pitt-Johnstown secure the second seed in the Northern Division for this week's WVIAC Tournament by tossing seven strong innings to defeat the Senators. Fees scattered six hits and gave up just one unearned. He also struck out three and did not allow a walk.
Ponn went out in fine style. After his team notched a run in each of the first and second innings, he worked through the Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University line-up for the complete game effort. Ponn gave up just two hits on the day and surrendered just one run. He also fanned five.
Miller, the conference's player of the week. helped Ohio Valley earn two wins on the week. Miller went a combined 7-for-12 for a batting average of .583. He had three extra-base hits, all of which were home runs. Miller earned two base on balls, scored four runs and drove in nine on the week.
Pitt-Johnstown left-hander Drew Shaulis (Somerset, Pa.) was a three-time WVIAC Pitcher of the Week recipient, while junior right-hander Alex Naggy (Grreensburg, Pa.) took home the honor once.
