04/29/2008

Mountain Cat junior first baseman Matt Hanley (Delmont, Pa.) was named WVIAC Baseball Co-Player of the Week with West Virginia State's Eric Workman after hitting four homeruns and driving in 14 runs in last weekend's three-game series at Ohio Valley (WV) University.
Hanley, who led Pitt Johnstown to the three-game sweep, wrapped up the series with seven hits in 12 at-bats. Hanley belted four homeruns, including a grand slam in Friday's opener, hit one double and scored six runs.
Workman helped West Virginia State wrap up the WVIAC Southern Division title with six straight victories last week. Workman garnered 14 hits in 27 at-bats, knocked in 13 runs, and scored a dozen more. Seven of the junior outfielder's hits went for extra bases as he racked up four homers, a pair of triples, and a double.
