04/10/2007

Junior second baseman Dan Delsignore (Johnstown, Pa.) became the first Mountain Cat baseball player to earn a West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) honor when he was named the conference's Co-Player of the Week with Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University's Seth Fluharty on Tuesday.
Delsignore, a graduate of Bishop McCort High School, went 7-for-9 in a home doubleheader sweep over Wheeling Jesuit last Tuesday at George R. Walter Field. Delsignore drove in one run and scored six runs. In addition, he had four extra base hits, including three doubles and a triple.
Pitt Johnstown swept Wheeling Jesuit 10-9 and 17-8 to improve to 12-13 on the season. The Mountain Cats will play road doubleheaders at Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College on Tuesday and Wheeling Jesuit on Thursday, before celebrating Senior Weekend with a four-game home WVIAC conference series against West Virginia State University on Saturday and Sunday.
