Volleyball Falls to Glenville State in First Round of WVIAC Tournament

Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had 16 kills, a block solo and five block assists, and Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.) added 14 kills, but it wasn't enough, as #6-seeded Glenville State (WV) College dealt the #11-seeded Lady Cat volleyball team a 3-2 loss in Thursday's opening round of the 2009 WVIAC Tournament at the Catholic Sports Center in Charleston, WV. Pitt-Johnstown finished the year with a 11-17 overall record and a 4-10 mark in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats lost 25-20, 24-26, 18-25, 25-19 and 11-15.
Along with Irwin and Houser, Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) had six kills and nine digs, while Ashley Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) added five kills, three block solos and one block assist.
Taylor King (York, Pa.) (26 assists) and Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) (11 assists) combined to collect 37 set assists. King also had two service aces and seven digs.
Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) led Pitt-Johnstown with 13 digs. Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) chipped in 10 digs.
