Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight, 3-1 at WV State

Jesssica Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.) had 11 kills, seven digs and three block assists the lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to its fifth straight victory following a 23-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-12 win at West Virginia State University on Friday. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 10-8 overall and 6-4 in the WVIAC.
Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) had 10 kills and 11 digs, and Beth Kendera (Johnstown, Pa.) added eight kills, a pair of block solos and four block assists. Ashley Dirado (Greensburg, Pa.) had seven kills, three block solos and two service aces. Kayla Brandle (Johnstown, Pa.) finished with three block assists.
Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) led the Lady Cats with 21 set assists, while Taylor King (York, Pa.) chipped in 15 assists. Petrilla also had eight digs and two aces.
Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) paced Pitt-Johnstown with 19 digs.
With the loss, West Virginia State dropped to 2-17 overall and 2-7 in conference play.
The Lady Cats travel to the University of Charleston (WV) for a WVIAC match on Saturday and to Penn State-Altoona on Tuesday to finish a five-match road trip, before returning home to host Concord (WV) University on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
