Volleyball Goes 1-3 at Fairmont State Tournament

After suffering straight set losses to Edinboro University and Point Park University to start the Fairmont State (WV) University Tournament on Friday, the Lady Cat volleyball team opened Saturday's action with a five set loss to Fairmont State, before sweeping Felician (NJ) College to finish the day. Tayler Vebares (Red Lion, Pa.) had 22 kills, and Jessica Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.) collected 17 kills to lead Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday. The Lady Cats are 1-3.
The Lady Cats rebounded with a 25-13, 25-18, 25-12 sweep over Felician behind seven kills and a pair of blocks from Heidenthal. Vebares had seven kills and two blocks, and Kendera added four kills, a block solo and a block assist. Oakes had 17 assists and four service aces, and Kohler had six aces and 18 digs in the win.
The Lady Cats travel to Point Park University on Tuesday and to the WVIAC/PSAC Crossover Touranment in Erie next weekend, before opening the home schedule with a non-conference match against Mount Aloysius College on Wednesday, Sept. 14 and a WVIAC match against Glenville State (WV) College on Tuesday, Sept. 20. Both home matches will start at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
