Volleyball Suffers Two More Losses at Crossover Tourney

The tough weekend for the Lady Cat volleyball team continued on Saturday. After suffering a pair of losses on Friday to open the 2011 WVIAC/PSAC Crossover Tournament in Erie, Indiana University (PA) defeated Pitt-Johnstown, 3-1, and Mercyhurst College swept the Lady Cats, 3-0, on Saturday. Jessica Heidenthal (CLymer, Pa.) had 14 kills to pace Pitt-Johnstown, now 1-8.
Pitt-Johnstown wrapped-up the tournament with a 25-19, 25-22, 28-26 loss to Mercyhurst. Tayler Vebares (Red Lion, Pa.) had 10 kills, and Danielle Fleeger (Clarion, Pa.) and Heidenthal had six and five kills, respectively. Oakes and Petrilla combined for 24 assists, and Kohler had a team-best 11 digs.
The Lady Cats open the home schedule with a non-conference match against Mount Aloysius College on Wednesday and a WVIAC match against Glenville State (WV) College on Tuesday, Sept. 20. Both home matches will start at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
