Volleyball Falls in Five Games at Glenville State

Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) collected 13 kills and 15 digs, and Ashley Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) added 10 kills, but it wasn't enough, as the Lady Cat volleyball game suffered a 3-2 loss at WVIAC rival Glenville State (WV) College, Friday night. Pitt-Johnstown fell to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The Lady Cats lost 25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 23-25, 9-15.
Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.) had nine kills, four block solos and three block assists, while Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had eight kills and three block solos. Head Coach Linda Renzi also got five kills, 13 set assists and two service aces from Taylor King (York, Pa.) and five kills, three aces, 25 digs and two block solos from Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.). Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) led Pitt-Johnstown with 23 assists. Kim Shubra (Ligonier, Pa.) chipped in 14 digs, and Kayla Brandle (Johnstown, Pa.) had four block solos and one block assist in the loss.
With the victory, Glenville State improved to 4-10 overall and 2-0 in league play.
The Lady Cats travel to a WVIAC match at West Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday, before hosting their first home match of the 2009 season against Penn State-Altoona on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in theSports Center.
