Volleyball Sweeps Charleston in Sports Center

The Lady Cat volleyball team rebounded from Wednesday's loss to Seton Hill University by sweeping WVIAC rival University of Charleston (WV), 25-14, 25-22, 25-16, Friday evening in the Sports Center. Jessica Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.) had a game-high 15 kills to help Pitt-Johnstown improve to 7-12 overall and 4-4 in conference-play.
Beth Kendera (Johnstown, Pa.) added eight kills and a pair of block solos, and Karen Schmidt (Boswell, Pa.) finished with seven kills and nine digs. Ashley Dirado (Greensburg, Pa.) chipped-in five kills, two block solos, and two block assists.
Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) had 22 set assists and seven digs, and Nikki Oakes (Pittsburgh, Pa.) collected 13 assists and five digs in the victory. Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) led the Lady Cats with 15 digs.
With the loss, Charleston dropped to 10-14 overall and 4-3 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats host WVIAC matches against West Virginia State University on Saturday at 2 p.m., and Shepherd (WV) University on Tuesday at 7 p.m., before traveling to Mount Aloysius College for a non-conference match on Thursday.
