Volleyball Swept at Wheeling Jesuit

Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had nine kills, a block solo and a block assist, but WVIAC leading Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University handed the Lady Cat volleybal team a 3-0 road loss on Thursday. Pitt-Johnstown dropped to 6-14 overall and 1-8 in the WVIAC.
Pitt-Johnstown was swept by the Cardinals 11-25, 23-25, 21-25.
Along with Irwin, Ashley Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) had eight kills, one block solo and one block assist, while Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) and Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.) combined for 12 kills. Taylor King (York, Pa.) led the Lady Cats with 16 assists, and Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) added eight assists. Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) and Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) chipped in 12 and nine digs, respectively in the loss.
With the victory, Wheeling Jesuit improved to 21-5 overall and 7-0 in conference play.
The Lady Cats travel to Mount Aloysius College for a non-conference match on Tuesday, before returning home to play four straight matches in the Sports Center beginning with Ohio Valley (WV) University on Friday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.
