Volleyball Falls at Atlantic Region Top-Ranked Wheeling Jesuit

Jessica Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.) had eight kills, but Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University, the top-ranked team in the Atlantic Region, dealt the Lady Cat volleyball team a 25-9, 25-7, 25-22 road WVIAC loss, Friday night. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 11-14 overall and 7-6 in the WVIAC.
Kelsey Shanabrook (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) had for kills and a pair of block assists, and Beth Kendera (Johnstown, Pa.) added four block assists in the loss.
Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) (8 assists) and Nikki Oakes (Pittsburgh, Pa.) (6 assists) combined for 14 set assists, while Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) led Pitt-Johnstown with 13 digs. Karen Schmidt (Boswell, Pa.) also had five digs.
With the win, Wheeling Jesuit made it 11 straight victories and improved to 25-3 overall and 11-0 in conference-play.
The Lady Cats will host West Virginia Wesleyan College for a Senior Night conference match on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, before wrapping-up the regular season with a non-conference match at Ohio Valley (WV) University on Saturday, Nov. 5.
