Volleyball Swept By W.Va. State in WVIAC Tourney

Jessica Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.) had 12 kills and two block solos, but it wasn't enough, as the No. 8-seeded Lady Cat volleyball team's season came to an end with a 25-20, 25-20, 25-18 loss to ninth-seeded West Virginia State University in Thursday's first round of the 2011 WVIAC Tournament at the Catholic Sports Complex in Charleston, W.Va. Pitt Johnstown ended the year at 13-15.
Tayler Vebares (Red Lion, Pa.) had seven kills and two block solos, and Karen Schmidt (Boswell, Pa.) collected seven kills in the loss.
Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) finished with 14 set assists and 13 digs, and Nikki Oakes (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added 12 assists. Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) led the way for Pitt-Johnstown with 23 digs.
With the win, West Virginia State is 12-12 and advances to the WVIAC Quarterfinals against top-seeded Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University.
