Volleyball Swept By Charleston on Senior Day

Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) and Ashley Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) each had eight kills, but the Lady Cat volleybal team suffered a 25-22, 25-20, 25-20 Senior Day loss to WVIAC rival University of Charleston (WV), Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown fell to 9-16 overall and 2-10 in the WVIAC.
Hogan finished with eight kills, a block solo and two block assists, while Hrescak added eight kills, two service aces and a block assist. Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.) had four kills, a block solo and four block assists, and Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had four kills and three block assists.
Taylor King (York, Pa.) (11 assists) and Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) (9 assists) combined for 20 set assists, while Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) led Pitt-Johnstown with 16 digs.
Prior to the match, the Lady Cat volleyball program recognized seniors Abby Gearhart, Nicole Houser, Kristin Irwin, Kelly Miller (Stoystown, Pa.) and Kimberly Shubra (Penn Run, Pa.).
with the win, Charleston improved to 19-11 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
The Lady Cats finish the 2009 regular season with WVIAC road matches at Concord (WV) University on Friday and at Bluefield State (WV) College on Saturday.
