Volleyball Earns Sweep at Fairmont State

Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) had nine kills and Kayla Brandle (Johnstown, Pa.) added eight kills to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to a three-game sweep at Fairmont State (WV) University, Wednesday night. Pitt-Johnstown increased its win streak to five straight matches and improved to 12-6 overall and 7-3 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats swept the Falcons, 25-16, 25-21, 25-23.
Kayla Lape (Fishertown, Pa.) chipped in seven kills and two block solos, while Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) (18 assists) and Taylor King (York, Pa.) (14 assists) combined for 32 assists. Head coach Linda Renzi also got 17 and eight digs, respectively from Katie Shadron (Ligonier, Pa.) and Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) and two aces and two block solos from Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) in the victory.
With the loss, Fairmont State dropped to 7-10 overall and 2-4 in the WVIAC.
Pitt-Johnstown continues a seven-event road trip at Ohio Valley (WV) University on Friday and Salem International (WV) University on Saturday. The Lady Cats will return home to host a WVIAC match against Fairmont State on Thursday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
