Volleyball Wins 7th Straight With Sweep at Salem International

Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had eight kills and a pair of block assists to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to its seventh straight victory with a 3-0 non-conference sweep at Salem International (WV) University, Saturday afternoon. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 14-6 on the season.
The Lady Cats swept the Tigers 25-11, 25-12 and 25-17.
Along with Irwin, Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.) had seven kills and three block assists, and Kelly Miller (Stoystown, Pa.) added five kills. Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) added 17 set assists and two service aces, while Taylor King (York, Pa.) chipped in 11 assists in the victory. Kayla Lape (Fishertown, Pa.) had two block assists, and Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) led the Lady Cats with 10 digs.
With the loss, Salem International fell to 0-13 on the year.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to West Liberty State (WV) College on Wednesday and to the Shepherd (WV) University Crossover Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Cats will return home to host Fairmont State (WV) University on Thursday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
