Lady Cat Volleyball Earns Home Sweep Over Shepherd

Head Coach Linda Renzi's Pitt Johnstown volleyball team improved to 3-6 overall and evened its record at 1-1 in the WVIAC with a three-games-to-none sweep over Shepherd (WV) University, Wednesday night in the Sports Center. Sophomore middle hitter Megan Lasut (Central City, Pa.) led the Lady Cats with 11 kills.
The Lady Cats opened the match with 30-23 and 30-19 wins the the first two games, before earning the sweep with a 30-27 victory in game three.
Along with Lasut, sophomore outside hitters Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) and Kelly Miller (Stoystown, Pa.) collected 10 and seven kills, respectively, while junior middle hitter Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had four kills, one block solo and two block assists. Freshman Taylor King (York, Pa.) added 18 assists and five digs, and junior Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) chipped in 16 assists and four digs.
With the loss, Shepherd dropped to 3-7 overall and 0-1 in the WVIAC.
Pitt Johnstown travels to Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College for a WVIAC conference contest on Saturday, before returning home to host Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University for another WVIAC match on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
