Volleyball Sweeps Concord In Sports Center

Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had 12 kills, and Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) added eight kills to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over visiting Concord (WV) University, Friday night in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 19-10 overall and 8-4 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats defeated Mountain Lions, 25-22, 25-14 and 25-22.
Along with her 12 kills, Irwin added two blocks solos and one block assist, while Kayla Brandle (Johnstown, Pa.) chipped in five kills. Head coach Linda Renzi also got 21 assists from Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) and 13 assists from Taylor King (York, Pa.). Katie Shadron (Ligonier, Pa.) led Pitt-Johnstown with 18 digs. Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) added 16 digs in the victory.
With the loss, Concord fell to 6-18 overall and 3-9 in the WVIAC.
Pitt-Johnstown wraps up the 2008 home schedule with Senior Night against Bluefield State (WV) College on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. in the Sports Center. Prior to match, the Lady Cats will recognize this year's seniors Julie Humble, Kayla Lape, Merissa Larrew and Katie Shadron.
