Volleyball Falls at WVIAC-Leading WV State

Kelly Miller (Stoystown, Pa.) had six kills and Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) added five kills and 14 digs, but it wasn't enough, as the Lady Cat volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss at WVIAC-leading West Virginia State University, Friday night. With the loss, Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 20-11 overall and 9-5 in conference play.
West Virginia State, which remained unbeaten in league play, defeated the Lady Cats 25-16, 25-12 and 25-22.
Along with Miller and Hrescak, Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) chipped in four kills. Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) (12 assists) and Taylor King (York, Pa.) (9 assists) combined for 21 set assists. Katie Shadron (Ligonier, Pa.) led Pitt-Johnstown with 25 digs, while Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) collected 13 digs in the loss.
With the victory, West Virginia State improved to 22-3 overall and 14-0 in the WVIAC.
Pitt-Johnstown wraps up the 2008 regular season at the University of Charleston (WV) on Saturday, before competing in the WVIAC Tournament from November 13-15 in Charleston, WV.
