Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight With Sweep at Salem International

Sophomore outside hitter Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) had eight kills to help lead the Pitt Johnstown women's volleyball team to its fifth straight win following a three-games-to none sweep at Salem International (WV) University on Saturday. The Lady Cats are now 8-9 overall and 5-4 in the WVIAC.
Head Coach Linda Renzi's team earned the sweep with 30-21, 30-22 and 30-15 victories.
Along with Gearhart, sophomore outside hitter Kelly Miller (Stoystown, Pa.) had seven kills and sophomore middle hitter Megan Lasut (Central City, Pa.) added six kills. Freshman setter Taylor King (York, Pa.) paced the Lady Cats with 14 set assists, while junior Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) chipped in 13 assists.
With the loss, Salem International fell to 2-15 overall and 1-8 in conference play.
The Lady Cats travel to Seton Hill University on Monday for a WVIAC match, before returning home to host conference matches against the University of Charleston on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and West Virginia State University on Saturday at noon.
