Volleyball Dealt Home Loss By Charleston

Lady Cat junior middle hitter Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had 16 kills, but it wasn't enough, as the University of Charleston (WV), the WVIAC's top-ranked team, dealt Pitt Johnstown a three-games-to-one loss, Friday night in the Sports Center. Head Coach Linda Renzi's team slipped to 8-11 overall and 5-6 in conference play.
Pitt Johnstown dropped the first to games, 28-30 and 16-30, before earning a 30-25 win in game three. However, the Golden Eagles sealed the match with a 30-24 win in game four.
Sophomore middle hitter Megan Lasut (Central City, Pa.) had seven kills, while junior middle hitter Casey Jo Ritenour (Latrobe, Pa.) collected 28 assists. Freshman Taylor King (York, Pa.) chipped in 12 assists, and junior defensive specialist Katie Shadron (Ligonier, Pa.) led Pitt Johnstown with 11 digs.
With the victory, Charleston raised its overall record to 18-8 and its WVIAC record to 9-0.
The Lady Cats host West Virginia State University on Saturday at noon, before traveling to Shepherd (WV) University on Tuesday.
