The 2012-2013 Division II All-Academic Wrestling Team consists of 168 student-athletes from 38 universities and colleges. Thirty-five members were named to the first team, 48 members to the second team, and 85 were named as honorable mention. Pitt-Johnstown, St. Cloud State (MN) University, and Western State (CO) College all place three members on the first team. Nine student-athletes were named to the team for the fourth time.

McKillop, a two-time All-American on the mat, has a 3.29 GPA in Biology. McKillop placed seventh at the National Tournament in 2012 as a true freshman, before posting a 33-2 overall record in 2012-13 and finishing third at nationals.

Joining McKillop on the first team are Cawley and Ryan. Cawley earned a spot in the National Tournament in 2013 and became an All-American with a seventh-place finish.

Cawley has a 3.24 GPA in Business-Finance. Ryan secured the starting job at 165 lbs. as a senior in 2012-13 and reached the National Tournament, but did not place. Ryan, a two-time Honorable Mention NWCA All-Academic Wrestling Team selection, garnered first-team honors this year with a 3.14 GPA in Business.

Winslow was tabbed an Honorable Mention NWCA All-Academic Team member with a 3.16 overall GPA in Secondary Education-History.

Mercyhurst College recorded the highest team grade point average (GPA) in the 20th Annual Division II All-Academic Wrestling Team competition and has won the Academic National Championship. This is the first time Mercyhurst has achieved this honor. Ten other NCAA II schools have also won the National Championship. They include Wisconsin-Parkside, Fort Hays State (KS) University, Indianapolis, Colorado School of Mines, Truman State University, West Liberty (WV) University, Minnesota State University-Mankato, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Nebraska-Kearney, and the University of Mary. Nine of the top twenty academic teams came from the North Region, six came from the East Region, three came from the West, and two came from Midwest Regions.

The team G.P.A. is calculated by averaging the cumulative grade-point average of ten wrestlers from each team of which eight of those wrestlers must have competed in their team's NCAA II National Qualifying Tournament.
