Strong Second Half Leads Warriors Over Lady Cats

East Stroudsburg University outscored the Lady Cats by 16 in the second half to erase a seven-point deficit in a 74-65 victory over Pitt-Johnstown, Wednesday evening in the Sports Center.  Jasmine Harper scored 16 points, and Nicole Carman added 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead Pitt-Johnstown, now 5-9.
 
After falling behind 12-6 on an Allison Howard lay-up five minutes in, Carman came off the bench to spark a 31-13 Pitt-Johnstown run that put the Lady Cats in front by 12.
 
Carman, who scored 11 points in the run, knotted it at 14 on a 3-pointer.  Another Carman 3-pointer pushed the lead into double-digits at 30-20 with 6:29 left in the half, before an Inaya Stephenson lay-up gave Pitt-Johnstown its largest lead at 37-25 at the 2:27 mark.
 
The Warriors cut it to 37-32 on another bucket from Howard, but Carman connected on a pair of free-throws with under a second left to rebuild the Lady Cat lead to 39-32 at the half.
 
East Stroudsburg came out in the second half and doubled-up Pitt-Johnstown 22-11 over the first nine minutes to build a 54-50 advantage on a Madison Tamburini bucket at 11:32.
 
After four ties and four lead changes, Howard's lay-up at 5:56 put the Warriors in front for good.
 
East Stroudsburg extended it to as many as 11 with a minute remaining, before going on to the nine-point victory.
 
Harper scored 16 points and Carman added a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Lady Cats.  Leah Hansen netted 11 points while Stephenson, Rachel Johnson, and Kayla DeCriscio each had seven points.  DeCriscio also grabbed eight rebounds in the loss.
 
Johnson pulled down four rebounds and now stands in 21st-place on the Lady Cat All-Time Rebounding List with 533.  Johnson is 15 rebounds shy of Amy Kessler (1988-92) for 20th place on the list.
 
Pitt-Johnstown, which could not overcome 20 turnovers, shot 42.9% (24-56) from the field, 6-17 from 3-point range, and 11-13 from the free-throw line.  East Stroudsburg shot 45.3% (34-75) from the floor, 1-7 from behind the 3-point line, and 5-9 from the charity stripe.
 
Howard led all scorers with 20 points, while Jessica Martin chipped-in 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds to lead East Stroudsburg, which evened its record at 7-7.
 
The Lady Cats host a PSAC doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against California University (PA) on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to Seton Hill University next Wednesday for another conference game.
