Kelsey Sleighter scored 18 points to become Pitt-Johnstown's 35
th 1,000-point scorer, but 13
th-ranked Indiana University (PA) used a 22-6 second half run to break open a six-point game in a 79-60 PSAC victory over the Lady Cats Wednesday evening in Indiana. Pitt-Johnstown has lost its last three games and fell to 9-8 overall and 6-7 in conference-play.

Sleighter, who needed 16 points to reach the milestone, was held to just three points in the first half. However, Sleighter netted 15 points in the second half, including a 3-pointer with 5:58 to play, that gave her 1,000
th-point.

IUP opened the game on an 8-0 run and pushed it out to 14-2 on Lindsay Stamp's bucket five minutes in.

The Lady Cats answered with a conventional 3-point play from
Jasmine Harper and a 3-pointer from
Nicole Carman to cut it to six midway through the half, before the Crimson Hawks scored the next seven to rebuild their lead to 21-8 at the seven-minute mark.

Pitt-Johnstown tried to keep it close and got baskets from
Olivia Rizzo and Harper to pull to within eight, but IUP closed out the first half with a 12-5 spurt that gave the Crimson Hawks a 15-point halftime advantage.

Back-to-back baskets from Ashley Stoner increased it to 33-15 with a minute remaining, before  Sleighter's 3-pointer narrowed the Lady Cat deficit to 33-18 at the break.

The Lady Cats came out hot in the second half and used-back-to-back 3-pointers from Carman and Sleighter to make it 39-33.

However, the Crimson Hawks never let Pitt-Johnstown get any closer. IUP went on to outscore Pitt-Johnstown 22-6 over the next seven minutes to build their lead to 61-39 on Megan Smith's lay-up at 8:19.

Pitt-Johnstown was able to get it down to 15, but IUP coasted to the 19-point victory.

Carman's 20 points and six rebounds led the way for the Lady Cats. Sleighter had 18 points, and Harper added 14 points and five rebounds for Pitt-Johnstown.

The Lady Cats struggled shooting the ball, connecting on just 29.7% (19-64) of its shots, including just 10-30 from 3-point range. Pitt-Johnstown was also 12-17 from the free-throw line. IUP, which held a 52-29 advantage on the glass, shot 44.3% (31-70) from the field, 2-10 from behind the 3-point line, and 15-21 from the charity stripe.

Stamp had a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds, and Stoner collected 24 points and nine rebounds to pace IUP, which improved to 16-1 overall and 12-1 in the PSAC.

The Lady Cats host a PSAC doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against Edinboro on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to Clarion for another conference game next Wednesday.Â
