Lady Cats Suffer 81-66 PSAC Crossover Loss at West Chester

2393West Chester led wire-to-wire and opened-up a 16-point first half lead on its way to dealing the Lady Cats their third straight loss with an 81-66 PSAC Crossover victory, Saturday afternoon in West Chester.  Jasmine Harper's game-high 26 points and 11 rebounds led the Lady Cats, now 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the PSAC Western Division.
 
West Chester got 12 early points from Brittany Sicinski and ran out to a 13-point advantage.  Sicinski scored the Golden Rams' first nine points, before Mariah Powell's jumper at the 12-minute mark put West Chester in front 18-5.
 
Pitt-Johnstown narrowed it to six three minutes later on two of Harper's 12 first half points and a Leah Hansen 3-pointer, but the Golden Rams countered with a 15-6 run, capped by two straight Anna Kuntz buckets, to build the lead to 16 at 34-19 with 4:42 left in the half.
 
A 3-pointer from Nicole Corcoran and another basket from Hansen got the Lady Cats back to within 11 at 1:47.  West Chester quickly pushed it back out to 15, but three Olivia Rizzo free-throws with three seconds remaining got the Pitt-Johnstown deficit down to 43-31 at the half.
 
West Chester extended its 12-point lead to 21 six minutes into the second half behind Dallas Ely's seven points in a 9-0 Golden Ram spurt that made it 61-40.
 
The Lady Cats tried to climb back in it and got to within 13 at 77-64 on two Hansen free-throws with 2:27 to play, but Pitt-Johnstown couldn't get any closer.
 
Harper's 26 points and 11 rebounds led Pitt-Johnstown.  Rizzo finished with 11 points and four rebounds, while Hansen had nine points, and Nicole Carman added five points and seven rebounds.
 
Carman is currently tied with Crystal Barr (2000-04) for 27th on the Lady Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,051 points and 19th on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Rebounding List with 589.  Jasmine Harper is tied for 29th with Sue Rosso (1991-95) on the all-time rebounding list with 474 rebounds.
 
Neither team shot the ball well.  Pitt-Johnstown ended the day shooting 35.9% (23-64) from the field and just 7-30 from behind the 3-point line.  West Chester, which out-rebounded Pitt-Johnstown53-40, shot 41.7% (30-72) from the floor and 2-12 from 3-point range.  The Lady Cats were 13-16 from the free-throw line, while the Golden Rams were 19-29.
 
Sicinski had 24 points and Ely chipped-in 17 points and five rebounds to pace four Golden rams who scored in double figures.  With the win, West Chester improved to 10-1 overall and 7-1 in the PSAC East.
 
The Lady Cats travel to a PSAC Crossover game at Cheyney on Sunday, before returning home to host a conference crossover doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against Millersville on Wednesday.  The Lady Cats will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center, followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
