In a battle of the top-two teams in the PSAC Central Division, Pitt-Johnstown got a match-high 15 kills, five blocks, and five digs from
Marissa Erminio, but Shippensburg swept past the Lady Cat volleyball team, 25-13, 29-27, and 27-25 Friday night in Shippensburg, Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 15-7 overall and 8-2 in the PSAC Central.

It was all Shippensburg in the opening set. The Raiders broke open a tie match with a 15-5 run to build a 19-9 lead on Brittany Whitacre's service ace. Shippensburg extended it to 23-12, before two straight Kendall Johnson kills gave the Raiders a 25-13 win.

Sydney Sumner's kills gave Pitt-Johnstown an early 9-6 lead in the second set, but the Raiders answered with six of the next seven points to retake the lead, 12-10, on Annie Goerl's kill. Consecutive kills by
Kendall Mahony gave the lead back to the Lady Cats at 19-18. It stayed close with both team fighting off set points, but the scored knotted at 27, Pitt-Johnstown committed two straight errors to give Shippensburg the 29-27 victory and a 2-sets-to-none advantage.

Maintaining the momentum to begin the third set, the Raiders jumped out to a 4-1 lead on a block from Gabriella Johnson and Kendall Johnson, but the Lady Cats battled back with a 13-5 run to go up 13-5 on
Allison Mondorff's kill and a Shippensburg attack error. Erminio's kill then pushed the Pitt-Johnstown lead to 23-17. However, Shippensburg stormed back to tie it at 24 on Goerl's kill, before another kill from Goerl and a lady Cat attack error gave the Raiders a 27-25 win and the sweep.

Along with Erminio,
Cambria Wierman had seven kills and six digs, while Mahony had five kills and three blocks, and
Maura Brehl chipped-in five kills for Pitt-Johnstown.

Mondorff finished with two kills, 27 set assists, and four digs, and
Jessica Dillon added six assists and eight digs. Pitt-Johnstown also got 21 digs from
Devan Orr and seven digs from
Delaney Roman.

Shippensburg, which made it seven straight victories, improved to 20-3 overall and moved into a first place tie with the lady Cats in the PSAC Central at 8-2. Kendall Johnson 14 kills and five blocks and Goerl's eight kills, 11 digs, and two blocks paced the Raiders.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to PSAC matches at Millersville on Saturday and at Seton Hill and California (PA) next weekend. The Lady Cats will play their next home matches in the Sports Center on November 4 and 5 against Indiana (PA) and Clarion.
