Marissa Erminio had 18 kills and Maura Brehl added 13 kills as Pitt-Johnstown needed a 15-13 win in the fifth set to secure a 3-sets-to-2 PSAC victory at West Chester University on Friday.  The Lady Cats improved to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the PSAC Central Division.
 
Pitt-Johnstown defeated West Chester 25-29, 19-25, 25-21, 24-26, and 15-13.
 
The Lady Cats gave up the first point of the match, then never trailed the rest of the opening set.  Pitt-Johnstown used a 9-2 run to take a 9-3 lead on Delaney Roman's service, and Kendall Mahony's kill extended it to 13-6.  West Chester got a kill from Karleigh Lutz and a Lady Cat attack error to get to within three at 14-11, but the Lady Cats quickly pushed it out to 20-13 on a kill from Anna Johns.  Pitt-Johnstown went on to finish the 25-19 win with a pair of kills from Marissa Erminio and one more from Mahony.
 
Rachel Robb's kill gave the Golden Rams a 9-5 advantage to start the second set.  Pitt-Johnstown came back to tie it at 10 on Cambria Wierman's kill and again at 11 on a West Chester error.  However, the Golden Rams went on to outscore the Lady Cats 14-8 the rest of the way and evened the match at one set apiece with a 25-19 victory.
 
In the third set, a kill from Maura Brehl, followed by two straight West Chester errors gave Pitt-Johnstown a slim 9-7 lead.  The Lady Cats made it 16-11 on kills by Johns and Erminio, before Golden Eagles scored the next four to get to within one on kills from Jillian Grammer and Lutz.  That's as close as West Chester would get.  Brehl's kill increased it to 21-16, and Mahony's kills closed out the 25-21 win.
 
The Lady Cats took advantage of three Wierman aces and two kills by Erminio to race out to a 7-0 lead to begin the third set.  West Chester stormed back with eight straight points of its own to go in front.  Neither team was able to build the lead to more than a pair.  West Chester eventually forced a fifth set with kills from Lutz and Victoria Cruciani that broke a 24-24 tie and gave the Golden Rams a 26-24 win.
 
In the fifth and deciding set, Robb's kill gave West Chester a 9-3 lead at the midway point.  Brehl's kill and a three West Chester errors gave the lead back to the Lady Cats at 12-11.  Pitt-Johnstown made it 14-13 and ended the 15-13 victory on Mahony's third ace of the night.
 
Along with her 18 kills, Erminio had six digs and three blocks, while Brehl had 12 digs to go along with her 13 kills to lead Pitt-Johnstown.  The lady Cats also got 11 kills, six blocks and three aces from Mahony, nine kills, 14 digs, and two blocks from Wierman, and six kills and four blocks from Johns.
 
Allison Mondorff finished with 47 set assists, six blocks, and six digs, and Devon Orr had 34 digs.  Roman collected eight digs and four aces for the Lady Cats.
 
Lutz's 18 kills led West Chester and tied Erminio for match-high.  The Golden Rams, who slipped to 13-5 overall and 1-4 in the PSAC Southeast Division, also got nine kills from Allie Duffy, and eight kills from Abbie Dischert.
 
Pitt-Johnstown will play a PSAC match at Cheyney on Saturday, before returning home to host conference matches against Lock Haven on Tuesday at 7 p.m., Kutztown on Friday at 7 p.m., and East Stroudsburg on Saturday at 1 p.m.
